Of all the days we could've decided to build our system...we chose the coldest, windiest day of the week...
TL;DR
Our prototype is constructed and tested on the car! All the camera mounts were installed successfully and the Jetson powers up without any brownouts. In an initial test, the results looked really good and we'll have a video of that soon!
What Happened
We met on March 1st for a cold build session where we constructed our prototype. Due to COVID, we were all in masks outdoors and socially distancing - which made for an interesting build session. It also didn't help when the wind picked up and snow came.
Nonetheless, we were able to install our system easily - as was the intended design. The cameras all hooked up perfectly and the Jetson worked as intended.
During testing, the snow actually became a beneficial aspect of the day as we were able to test our system in overcast and snowy weather at the same time. From the image shown above, the system works great regardless of those weather conditions.
We also took the car out for a short drive to show the software working in a real-life scenario. We'll have the video showing that result soon!
What's Next?
Video making time. We'll be making some short videos, one to market the product and another to show off the more technical aspects of the project.
